This game does NOT need gore to be good, but I'll agree we tend to go overboard with the censorship. So I guess it might be better if those who can't handle it yet or at all never see it. Not all of us grew up watching animals being slaughtered, people being killed and tortured or maimed by accident or malice.
I think we can assume they want to make it more PC or psychologically sound for younger players or people that are easily disturbed or offended by morbid stuff.
